Central Blood Bank is the regions largest blood center and the exclusive blood supplier of Barnesville Hospital. Central Blood Bank distributes 350,000 blood products annually. Barnesville Hospital hosted a community blood drive on September 17th to aid in collection of these needed blood products. The drive collected 30 products toward a goal of 30 and, as a result, was named the Central Blood Bank Blood Drive of the Week.
According to Jim Fitzgerald, Chief Operating Officer of Central Blood Bank, This honor awards the group that exemplifies outstanding dedication to the community blood program. As with most successful drives, this one was the result of strong leadership, detailed planning, and flawless execution.
Cindy Soltesz, Blood Bank Supervisor, with assistance of Lynn Atkinson and Peggy Douglass, was responsible for the event planning. There are many moving parts to hosting a blood drive, states Rachel Bennett, Account Manager. Communication between the blood bank and donor group must be strong.
Barnesville Hospital will host another Community Blood Drive on Friday, November 22nd from 1:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m. Credits earned from all units donated will be used to support the Barnesville High School Scholarship Program.
