National Womens Health Week is an observance led by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office on Womens Health. In conjunction with this observance, Barnesville Hospital will sponsor a Womens Checkup Day on Thursday, May 22, 2014, beginning at 8:00 a.m. During this day, participants will receive many screenings free of charge. Screenings can find diseases early, when they are easier to treat. They can also identify other problems and help lower the risk for many problems, such as heart disease.
Peggy Douglass, Director of Education & Outreach at Barnesville Hospital says, “We want to demonstrate the importance of womens health issues. A day full of activities is planned where women of all ages will have a chance to participate in a variety of health screenings and informational sessions.
Health screenings will include:
- Blood Pressure
- Total Cholesterol, LDL, HDL
- Fitness Evaluation
- Pulmonary Function Screening
- Peripheral Vascular Disease Screening
- Bone Density Screening
The screenings are free and all women are encouraged to participate. To minimize time spent, an appointment is required for the health screenings. For an appointment call (740) 425-5158.
Barnesville Hospital is the only 24-hour critical access hospital serving Monroe county, western Belmont county, and parts of Noble, Harrison, and Guernsey counties.
