Barnesville Hospital Recognizes Volunteers

Barnesville Hospital recently held its Volunteer Recognition Banquet to recognize the dedicated volunteers who give their time, energy and talents to help others. Ruth Anderson, Director of Volunteers shared that in the past year 149 volunteers spent 8,414 hours volunteering for Barnesville Hospital and they also delivered 7,658 meals.

“Our volunteers make the world a brighter place,” said Ruth Anderson, Volunteer Director, Barnesville Hospital. “Whether it is delivering Meals on Wheels or taking a card into a patient’s room our volunteers make a difference in the lives of others. We are fortunate to have so many outstanding individuals who are willing to give of their time to help others.”

Those who were recognized include:
Receiving Teen Patches were: Jaiden Butler, Sage Fader, Ella Hershberger, Sydney Leach, Tara Lippert, Danielle Meyers, Allison Sheppard, and Leah Steele.
Adult Volunteers receiving 500 Hour Pins were: Becky Steele and Doris Turner. 1,000 hour pin recipients were: Ethel Bahmer, Connie Johns and Dorothy Morris. . 2,000 hours pin recipient was Rosemary Jones. Freda Powell received a pin for volunteering 8,000 hours!

Volunteers who were retiring were also recognized and they included: Gene Miller, Sue Phifer and Marjorie Plumly.

During the Volunteer Banquet, David Phillips, CEO, Barnesville Hospital surprised Ruth Anderson by announcing that her co-workers had selected her as Barnesville Hospital’s CAREgiver of the year. “CAREgiver of the Year is an honor bestowed upon an employee by their colleagues. Ruth is very deserving as she continually goes above and beyond to care for our patients and to support our Hospital,” said David Phillips.

Pastor Guy Norris provided the Invocation and Benediction and Patty and Rodney West provided the entertainment.
