Barnesville Hospital Foundation Hosts 3rd Annual Trap Shoot and Steel Challenge

The Barnesville Hospital Foundation will host its 3rd Annual Trap Shoot and Steel Challenge on Saturday, October 13th at the Bethesda Sportsman’s Club. Registration begins at 10 AM, followed by a safety review at 11 AM and the shoot will begin at 11:15 AM. Those 18-20 must have parental consent and those under 18 must have parental consent and a parent must be present throughout the day.  Everyone is welcome regardless of experience. Those eighteen to twenty-one must have parental consent to participate in the Steel Challenge.

A new feature this year will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM we will hold a beginner orientation. If a novice would like to participate in the Trap Shoot this gives them an opportunity to become comfortable with the firearm, learn the safety features and to practice shooting.

“The Trap Shoot is open to everyone. We hope the beginner orientation will encourage more novice shooter to come out and participate and to enjoy the day,” said Dr. David Hilliard, Chief of Staff, Barnesville Hospital. “Last year’s event was a huge success. We had a diverse group of people join us, men and women, and experienced and novice shooters, teens and older adults. Everyone was supportive and everyone had a great time.”

An Early Bird Special is being offered this year. If you register prior to September 1st, the cost is $65 per person, after September 1st it is $75. The cost includes the Trap Shoot and Steel Challenge, lunch and a raffle ticket for a chance to win a Ruger 10/22 Stainless Steel. Shot guns and ammunition are provided or you can bring your own shot gun for the trap shoot. The Steel Challenge, which is a speed shooting competition, will supply the 22 hand guns and ammunition. No outside 22 firearms will be allowed on the range.

Awards will be given for the top male, top female and for the top novice and experienced shooter for the Trap Shoot and Steel Challenge. The Shooting Sports 4-H Club will assist to coordinate the event. Spectators are welcome and can join us for lunch for a fee of $20.

Pre-registration is strongly encouraged as the number of participants will be limited. Area businesses or individuals can also be event sponsors for $100, $500 or $1,000. All proceeds from this event will benefit Barnesville Hospital.
