Barnesville Hospital recently announced Dee Stewart as the new Business Office Supervisor. With her prior knowledge of billing and experience as Senior Biller, according to Willie Cooper-Lohr, Chief Financial Officer, Dee will continue to be an excellent resource for staff and an asset to Barnesville Hospital. Dee assumes the role from Susan Ward who recently retired as Senior Director of Corporate Compliance. Mrs. Wards position was not filled, but was redistributed to others as part of a minor reorganization.
Dee began her career at Barnesville Hospital by working as a Candy Striper at the Hospital and later as a volunteer in the Home Health office. After graduating from Belmont Technical College with an associate degree in Accounting, she made the transition to employee. Having worked in Registration part-time and, more recently, as Senior Biller, Dee has seen a lot of changes in her 23 years of employment. David Phillips, CEO, comments, Dee has been a committed member of the Hospital team for many years. We value her knowledge, work ethic, and commitment. She will do well in her new role I am certain.
When asked the biggest challenge facing healthcare today, Dee believes it is the cost. Patients premiums keep going up, along with their deductibles, co-insurances, and co-pays, says Mrs. Stewart. This makes it very difficult for patients to come to the hospital for tests and procedures. However, the Patient Financial Counselor is available to assist with the complex financial scenarios faced by patients. We understand that many of our patients have challenges related to health insurance coverage. We have developed a comprehensive financial assistance program to assist you with your hospital bill. For information about the programs Barnesville Hospital offers or to ask questions about an account, contact the Patient Financial Counselor at 740-425-5136.
Dee and her husband of 22 years, Paul, reside in Barnesville and have two children. Kayla will be starting her second year at Malone University, while David will be a senior at Barnesville High School. Dee enjoys spending time with family and dog, Maggie, watching movies, and listening to country music. She is a member of the First Christian Church in Barnesville where she serves as a deaconess and Sunday School teacher.
